GARGAC,
MARK

|
Frontiersman
Mask - Mark Gargac nationally known wood carver and instructor
from Broomfield, CO specializes in carving faces in all types
of wood. His subject matters range from Frontiersmen and Mountain
Men, Cowboys and Indians, wizards, gnomes, elves and Santa's.
Stylized with a slight hint of exaggerated realism to include
intricate facial detailing has been his final desired result in
his most recent carvings to date. One of the projects he has newly
created for this year's Rendezvous is carving a Frontiersman mask
from a basswood rough out. Carvers will have the option to choose
from one of three rough out masks measuring approximately 12"
x 7" x 4" in depth. A brief description of facial anatomy
and the placement and measurements of the facial features on your
mask will be presented before carving begins. Mark's emphasis
for the class will be on assisting each carver in obtaining an
enjoyable experience in carving faces and to hopefully aid each
with a satisfying end result in their wood carving project at
the 2013 Rendezvous. Tools Required: Bring all the sharp tools
you have. Each carver will be carving off of Instructor supplied
carving vices and carving benches that seat 4 carvers per bench.
He uses tools mainly with the #5, #7 and #9 sweeps. Small micro
tools ranging from 2 - 5 mm and a medium to large V Tool. A couple
of sharp knives will also be useful. B/I/A Max 10 Min 6 Standby
2 Cost $90 Blanks $35. See Mark's work at www.gargacsoriginals.com.

Indian Bust with Full Headdress - The second project created
solely, and specifically for the 2013 Wood Carvers Rendezvous
and currently the Instructor's favorite to carve is the Native
American Indian Bust adorning a stylistically carved full headdress
and realistically carved face. This was a challenging design to
execute and he was very satisfied with the end result when finished
with carving the rough out. The basswood rough out measures approximately
12" x 7" x 5" in depth. " I feel carvers taking
this class will have a lot of fun in adding details of their own
to this carving." This carving opens many possibilities for
carvers in expanding their carving creativity level. Emphasis
in the class will be on assisting each carver in obtaining an
enjoyable experience in carving faces and to hopefully aid in
creating a satisfying final result for each carver. Tools Required:
